Coco Maduro brings together African, Brazilian and electronic music influences.
Over a rhythm section made out of bottles, cans, pots and buckets, a tubulum plays the bass line. Its fat soundd seems to be coming out of a powerful synthesizer. A set of PET plastic bottles, tuned with compressed air, plays the melody with their crystalline sound.
Those “pets”, as the group refers to them, are always played by at least two musicians alternating their interlocked parts to form a single melody much like a Balinese kotekan or a medieval hocket.
